In the construction industry today, many building materials,
(e.g., plaster) are hydrophobic, in order to achieve long-term protection against sun, rain, snow and mould growth.

Metallic soaps hold an important position in this field of application, because they have a highly water-repellent effect. It is carried out with the hydrophobicity of the surface of the water repellency over the entire cross section, whereby a hydrophobic treatment of the mass is ensured over years. The water vapour diffusion is not affected by the metallic soaps.

However, the effectiveness is also dependent upon an intensive mixing of the metallic soaps in the building materials. Here, the reactive hydrophobic agent offers advantages: they are used in the form of soluble soap - usually sodium oleate. A hydrophobic treatment occurs with a time delay through the reaction with calcium from the building materials.

The broad product portfolio is completed by the combination products, which guarantee a high degree of take-up and rapid hydrophobicity.
