REACH

On 1st June 2007, the new REACH (Registration, Evaluation, Authorization and Restriction of Chemicals) came into effect. The overall objectives are the protection of health and the environment from the risks posed by chemicals, and increasing transparency, while maintaining competitiveness of the chemical industry in the EU. Under this regulation, only substances which have been pre-registered and registered may be placed on the market.

We the Peter Greven GmbH & Co KG have as manufacturers of chemical substances committed ourselves to implement the REACH regulations accordingly. Therefore, we would like to inform you of the essential elements which are important to you as our customers:

  1. Pre-registration:

The pre-registration phase for already produced and imported substances began on 01.06.2008 and ended on 01.12.2008. Our product range was pre-registered within this period. Also, our raw materials have been pre-registered in accordance with the requirements of our suppliers. However, we remain in close contact with our suppliers to ensure that all raw materials are registered.
  2. Registration:

Registration of pre-registered substances takes place on three cutoff dates:

    1. Cutoff date: 01/12/2010: Registration of substances > = 1000 t/a / CMR-Substances > = 1 t / a, and environmentally hazardous substances > = 100 t / a
    2. Cutoff date: 01.06.2013: Registration of substances > = 100 t/a
    3. Cutoff date: 01.06.2018: Registration of substances > = 1 t/a

The corresponding products are successfully registered by us within the specified time limits. We have fulfilled our responsibility in the registration process and have submitted a series of dossiers as the leading registrant. At present, activities have started for the last cutoff date. So that the remaining items can be registered successfully, close cooperation between you as the customer and business partner and us, still remains of utmost importance.
Should we nevertheless, decide for whatever reason not to register and to discontinue a product, then we would inform you in good time.

  3. Participation in working groups:

We have established an internal REACH department that takes care of all issues and activities on this subject. In addition to this internal team of experts, we are an active member of national and international working groups (APAG and VCI). Furthermore, we are involved in various consortia which take care of the preparation of the registration dossier.
