Additivated Esters for Long-Life Hydraulic and Gear Oils
As part of our R&D, we have investigated and evaluated various ester formulations in combination with different additives and additive packages over the past few months. The aim is to improve the oxidation and hydrolytic stability of esters for hydraulic and gear oils, thereby extending their service life over the long term.
The results obtained to date show that selected additive combinations are highly effective. In particular, significant improvements in long-term thermal and chemical stability have been achieved without adversely affecting the fundamental properties of the esters used.
Another key focus is on the interaction between the additives and their compatibility with different ester base stocks and materials. Meaningful results are already available in this area as well. The performance and suitability of the formulations are assessed using test methods for hydrolytic and oxidation stability, demulsibility and seal compatibility.
In the ongoing test series, the most promising formulations are being further optimised. Their performance will subsequently be validated comprehensively under application-oriented conditions, with a particular focus on testing on the hydraulic test rig.
